A BEAUTIFUL MIND
Cultivating a high intellect is not just about IQ (Intellectual Quotient). It’s also about gradations of spiritual understanding, which include EQ (Emotional Quotient), SQ (Spiritual Quotient) and QQ (Quranic Quotient).
Uniting these four quotients creates a powerful mindset and heart-set, which are more adept at living life successfully.
There exist seven verses in Chapter 17, The Bee, guiding towards this understanding: The thinking person gains wisdom—wisdom grows mindfulness, mindfulness engenders gratitude, gratitude is a conduit for guidance, and when guided, we welcome admonition. [16:11-17]
TEXTUAL LIGHT
Darkness is a gift.
Fortunately, the earth turns from our brilliant star every day, giving us a daily hiatus.
Life thrives in contrasts. Day and night, dawn and dusk, life and death, sleep and wakefulness, male and female, even and odd, hot and cold, terrestrial and celestial are beautiful notes in the symphony of life.
But a more sinister darkness also exists. One that’s unspinning, axis-less and fixed.
It’s unlike the physical night that gives way to the light. It stealthily creeps over the light and, like a black hole, swallows it. And the more darkness it feeds on, the greater its event horizon grows, keeping its host trapped and subjected to spiritual atrophy. Dark matter, regardless of its size, is not the only problem. It’s also the rejection of the light that grows the spiritual void. This state has a vicelike grip and requires a higher spiritual light to unclasp it.
This dilemma threads the history of the prophetic cycle. The dawn of each Prophet was before the light was dimmest, hence the need for a guiding lamp. Each herald carried Divine light with the power to shatter the darkness. However, eventually, the light would begin to fail, needing a brighter and more brilliant one.
The final prophetic dawning arrived with the most luminous and undying of lights. Its rays will forever keep away the darkness for everyone who basks in it.
There exist many textual lights, but none with the Quranic power to light up the abyss: ‘Alif Lam Ra This is a Scripture which We have sent down to you [Prophet] so that, with their Lord’s permission, you may bring people from the depths of darkness into light, to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy One’ [14:1].
The Muslim world is worse than an old man. Even the presence of an old man can be a deterrent to criminality. It’s a shameful truth, and we will be answerable to God for our impotence, cowardliness and complicity in the death of 40,000 Palestinians.
We’ve heard a slew of cheap talk from Muslim leaders these last ten months, and it’s become farcically hollow.
It’s simply posturing for some and parroting for others. In the case of the parrots, they are following Western leaders to the lizard’s den with talk of negotiating a ceasefire. And if you don’t already know, the West’s political elites speak with forked tongues. But I’ll let you in on something else; the parrots know. So, what does that make the parrots?
To be blabbering on about a ceasefire negotiation after 40,000 deaths is to cheapen life.
I hate to say it, but Palestinians living in Occupied Palestine must deem their lives worthless to the world. How could they not if we have so utterly and devastatingly failed them? Not just all these years but in their most urgent hour.
And so, the most oppressed and discarded people, a beautiful people, a dispossessed people, a steadfast people, a people facing genocide, the evilest crime under international humanitarian law, understandably say, “We only trust God.”
