BREAKING FENCES
How can we see when the walls we’ve built around us rival the tallest skyscrapers? How can we hear through the din of piping voices we give volume to? How can we perceive when knowledge is no longer sacrosanct and desired?
Divine guidance is not just about truth and God but the barriers within us that separate us from it. These fences render us—according to the Quranic characterisation—deaf, dumb and blind: ‘The worst creatures in God’s eyes are those who are [wilfully] deaf and dumb, who do not reason’ [8:22].
If we are to rid ourselves of the label of worst creatures, we must tear down the parts within us that block the light.
Our dominant self bleeds into all parts of our lives. If that is not our spirituality, we will upend our lives as we separate from God.
THE CITY OF GOD
This world is dystopic by nature.
But even with the world at sea, there exists a place the soul can access to fill its cup with love, friendship, forgiveness, justice and peace.
It is grander than the legendary utopic city of Atlantis, and contrary to the myth, its coordinates exist.
The prophets of God all visited there, and Muhammad (s), the final prophet of God, left us the map: ‘For them who receive admonition, for them will be a home of peace with their Lord. He will be their friend because they practice righteousness’ [6:126-127], and ‘Say, If you love God, follow me, and God will love you and forgive you your sins; God is most forgiving, most merciful’ [3:31].
The US empire is a malignancy that many countries suffer from.
Since WWII, the US has committed 80-plus regime changes across the globe.1 That’s a staggering one foreign government replacement operation annually. The US government carried out these operations covertly and overtly, using violent coups, full-scale invasions, paramilitaries, assassinations, meddling in elections, funding tyrants to depose democracies, and a buffet of other unsavoury strategies.
It’s 2024, and still, the US regime’s crooked foreign policy has not changed as it continues with its grotesque and meddlesome behaviour, doing it under the guise of freedom and democracy and using the same spin to dupe the world.
What’s now called public relations or The Ministry of Information used to be named more accurately The Department of Propaganda. That was until governments recognised that the people negatively viewed the term.
The same was true for the Department of War. When governments realised people were slow to fund The Department of War, they changed the name to the Department of Defence.
Currently, the Middle East is an inferno set ablaze by Apartheid Israel, with the US having taken up the position of firefighter. However, it is beginning to look more like a display of good cops, and bad cops.
The latest reports from Politico2 and Axios3 seem to support the view and suggest something more sinister from Washington is at play, which is that the US regime and their proxy, Apartheid Israel, have their sights set on a new target, Lebanon. The reports cite that senior US officials had silently backed Apartheid Israel’s move against Hezbollah and are using the successful assassination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, as an opportunity to install a new Lebanese president who supports Washington.
