GOD IS FREE

The confluence of Dispensational Premillennialism and megalomania is a serious issue today.

Dispensational Premillennialism (DP) is the latest version of many previous theological perspectives regarding Biblical eschatology (end of times). However, the current interpretation is not benign because of its integration into Western politics, especially American Right-Wing politics, currently at the helm of global power.

On christianity.com, Michelle Reyes writes: “DP believes God has a place for both national Israel (cf. Romans 11:28-29) and the church (“faithful Israel”; cf. Revelation 7:4). DP states that, during the current age, Jews must accept Jesus as their Savior before Jesus can return in glory to establish his millennial reign.” And those who reject Jesus will be violently cleansed from the world.

Many DPs and Christian Zionists suffer deep psychoses of megalomania (feelings of omnipotence or superiority). One of their exercises in megalomania is their belief that they can spur the prophecy by creating the conditions necessary for its actualisation. Thus, for them, supporting and funding Israeli genocide and the theft of Palestinian land for the creation of a Greater Israel is not only a geopolitical strategy in colonialism but also a religious imperative.

Regardless of whether you believe in the prophecy or not, thinking you can force God’s Hand or direct His Will is shirk—blasphemy.

God is not susceptible to coercive power or external factors. If true, His attributes al-Qudrah (All-Powerful) and Kawnuhū ta `ālā Murīdan (Possessor of His Own Will) would be negated: “Your Lord creates what He pleases and chooses those He will—they have no choice—so glory be to God, and may He be exalted above the partners they ascribe to Him!” [28:68].

God is free of all wants. Worthy of all praise.

The Prophet (s)

The Glass Half-Full Prophet

The Prophet of God was not an ingrate.

Ingratitude is one of the major illnesses of our age. We are constantly lamenting our lot.

But the Prophet (s) taught us that even in our struggle, we must never forego the opportunity to dispense half a date to someone less fortunate. For indeed, it is a mighty deed. And one that will increase the buffer between us and the Hellfire.

Palestinian Solidarity

The world-renowned physician, addiction and trauma specialist Gabor Mate says that for Palestinians, there is no such thing as post-traumatic stress because the trauma is never post.

The same is true for colonised people. Postcolonialism is a form of subterfuge because, for most Indigenous people, what Frantz Fanon called the wretched of the earth, colonialism has never been post. It has only been re-boxed into a new form of economic imperialism driven by the political class meant to subjugate and control.

Today, 29 November, is the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, as designated by the United Nations: “As customary, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 32/40 B of 2 December 1977, the International Day of Solidarity provides an opportunity for the international community to focus its attention on the fact that the question of Palestine remains unresolved and that the Palestinian people are yet to attain their inalienable rights as defined by the General Assembly, namely, the right to self-determination, the right to national independence and sovereignty, and the right to return” [UN General Assembly].

The need for international solidarity for Palestine cannot be more urgent, but, unfortunately, the opportunity to mobilise our bodies, minds and souls for Palestine is being eclipsed by another dictator, Black Friday.

It seems that after a year of genocide, most people have moved on as we do with most fads. We have become voyeurs at best or atrocity tourists, detached from the land and its people and thus from our humanity.

Activism on a screen has its place, but it must activate us outside the boundaries of its frames to a place in the real world that is deep and visceral, a place where we, too, just as the Palestinians, feel our bodies under siege.

P.S. Did you know Christian Zionism precedes Jewish Zionism and that Christian Zionists are greater in number than their counterparts?

Until next week, InshaAllah
