Allah

MASTER YOUR EMOTIONS

Do not allow wealth to take you hostage. Allah alone is Al-Razzaq, your Provider, Comforter, and Sustainer.

In a recent Friday sermon, the khatib said, ‘You make a living by earning, but you make a life through giving’ [Moulana Kagee].

For many, the fear of financial insecurity dominates their lives.

Fear is just one of the many intrinsic human emotions. We should not be ashamed of them, because our feelings are part of who we are.

Our emotions are essential, and when calibrated and regulated, drive positive behaviour.

Anger, at the correct object, and in the right degree, is a valid response. However, when enthroned over protracted periods or when unleashed excessively, it can be detrimental to our psyche and physiology.

Allah knows us best. Hence, every emotion, whether anger, love, hate, sadness, loneliness, happiness, laughter, fear, insecurity, and more, has a Quranic verse that speaks to it. Thus making the Quran the most effective regulator of human emotions: ‘We send down the Quran as a healing and mercy for the believers’ [17:82].

The Prophet (s)

GROW YOUR IQ

There are many ways to increase your intellectual quotient. But only one can provide you with the wisest teacher to not only grow your IQ, but also your EQ and SQ (Emotional and Spiritual Quotients). And the only currency to pay for his wisdom is through repentance: ‘Repent, and I (Allah) will guide you and give you proximity to Me’ [13:27].

Thus, it stands to reason that the Prophet (s) was the wisest because he was also the most repentant of Allah’s creation, seeking His forgiveness no less than 70 times daily. [Bukhari 6307]

Objects of Desire

Desire is innate to the human being. But there’s a caveat: the objects of our desires can either turn them into our oppressors or our guardians. So desire only that which is good and pure.

Reminder: Global Strike for Gaza. Every Thursday. Every Week.
